Businesses Vie for Free Bike Parking
Our brand advocates give away $800 in free bike parking to these lucky businesses.
Every May we celebrate the wonders of the bicycle with National Bike Month. With an entire month dedicated to the bike, and research showing the positive impact that bikes have for businesses, there’s no better time to giveaway $800 worth of bike parking. Last month our band of advocates hit the streets to do just that.
To be entered to win, interested businesses posted a picture of the space where the bike parking rack would go, along with the hashtag #SarisRacks. Now the time has come to announce the winners.
Arlan's Market of New Braunfels, Texas
"Several of our clients are neighborhood people that have their only transportation in the form of bicycles. In addition, we have employees that rely strictly on two wheels to get to work. Feedback often comes in the form of not having a secure location for them to park their bikes with a lock that does not interfere with other’s experience of the local super market. We believe that with the increase in bike lanes and users, our business has the potential to serve the local community some peace of mind for their bicycles, and to shop for their essential food items if we’re able to allow them a place to lock up. The Sanctuary of Montgomery, Alabama
“As you know we are working hard to revitalize the commercial strip of the cottage hill/5-points area. We see our neighborhood as one of the city's most bike-able & walkable neighborhoods. The sanctuary has more events weekly, and now has incorporated yoga wellness center fully into our programming. 12 classes a week, typically 1-2 concert / performances a week, and soon a very walkable restaurant / retail district make for a perfect combo. Folks already would bike to the sanctuary for yoga and events, but the demand will only grow!!! We hope to lead Mongomery in these types of sustainable community building efforts.”

Solar Roast Coffee of Pueblo, Colorado
Solar Roast coffee is a solar powered coffee roaster in Pueblo, CO. They've promoted cycling, healthy living, and sustainability since we've opened. Their door says it all. They've supported efforts in bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure in town, as well as helped promote the trails at Lake Pueblo. Recently, their little bike rack made its way off. They could certainly use a replacement and upgrade. In owner Mike Hartkop's words: We need bike racks!

Butler Freeport Community Trail Council of Butler, Pennsylvania
“The biking community is growing leaps and bounds in this region, new trails are still being constructed but what is lacking is a safe and secure public use bike rack system. Commuters have nowhere but outside in the rain to lock their bikes. The Butler Freeport Community Trail is a dog leg of the proposed Pittsburgh to Erie Trail and a day’s ride from the next town with lodging, riders with bikes will be looking for storage.”

According to a Madison resident, Revolution Cycles could use more parking outside along the bike path. With a coffee shop and bar next door, additional bike parking is sure to benefit the neighborhood.

The Town of Miami Lakes
The new bike racks at town parks, youth centers, and alongside greenways and trails will help promote bicycle ridership, encourage healthy lifestyle choices, enhance social interaction between residents and visitors, and assist in creating a bike friendly community.

Murphy Brown's Craft Beer Empourium
At Murphy Brown's Craft Beer Empourium, we have customers who regularly cycle to our establishment. Some come to "recarb" after a long ride, some come to relax after a slow roll on the neighboring bike path, some as a mode of transport and some to avoid driving after a pint or two. All inspire conversation amongst our customers as to the fun and many benefits of cycling.
In addition, 3 out of 5 bartenders are avid cyclists and bike parking would certainly lead to even more cycling conversation at the bar!
